LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - In the early morning on Sunday, March 29, 2009, an 18-year-old female University of Southern California student was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as she was walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Hoover Street. Her companion, a 19-year-old male student, was also struck and severely injured.
Today, the Los Angeles City Counsel approved a $75,000 reward for information leading to the identity of the driver that is responsible for this tragic accident. Upon receiving word of the City Counsel’s offer, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors added an additional $10,000 of its own to that reward, and officials at the University of Southern California announced that they will also be contributing $50,000 to the effort. Combined, the reward amounts to $135,000, and will be awarded to anyone that can provide police with information that leads to the identification of this driver.
The young girl’s mother is pleading with the public for assistance in finding this driver as well as the passenger that was in the car at the time of the accident. The driver has been described as having a shaved head and driving a black sedan, possibly a Lexus, Honda Accord, or Toyota Corolla. This car had or may still have damage to its front end and possibly to the windshield. Anyone with information concerning this horrendous accident should contact the Los Angeles Police Department immediately.
